HIDEKI INOUE
Hideki Inoue is a leading contemporary ceramicist in Japan. His family’s work in pottery stretches back to the 19th century, and while immersed in this lineage for great ceramic art, Inoue took the atypical path of training for a period in Germany with the master potter Wendelin Stahl.
The outcome in Inoue’s work today is a style sometimes called Japanese modern. Its central characteristic is incredibly rich colours in glaze. A deep spectral gloop of blues and green travels in gradients or in waves across the forms he makes. He is a representative of the creative wealth of Kasama.
